2025-2027 intake of Postgraduate Diploma in Infectious Diseases (PDipID) Programme & Infectious Diseases Courses

Department of Microbiology and the Carol Yu Centre for Infection, Faculty of Medicine, HKU are now inviting application for admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Infectious Diseases (PDipID) Programme. 
 
The PDipID programme covers the following components over a period of two years:
- Six Infectious Disease Courses

- Clinical Attachments (3 Friday Infectious Diseases Rounds, Two Bedside Infectious Diseases Consultations and One Clinical Microbiology Laboratory Round & project presentation)

- A clinical and/or laboratory surveillance project

- One Literature Review in Infectious Diseases
 
Candidates holding degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery of HKU, or a degree or another qualification of equivalent standard from another university or comparable institution are eligible to apply.

Critical Care Medicine Foundation (CCMF) sponsorship for attending overseas continuous medical education (CME) activities - Regulations of Nomination

  • The applicant must be a paid member of the Hong Kong Society of Critical Care Medicine (hereinafter called “the Society”) in the current membership period. The membership period of the Society is a bi-yearly interval, starting from 1st of January to 31st of December of the next calendar year. Members have to renew their membership with the society before they can apply for sponsorship nomination and not later than 6 months after the commencement of the current membership period. An administration fee of HKD 100 will be charged on top of the membership fee for payment after 6 months.
  • The applicant should not receive sponsorship from any other source for the same conference.
  • The sponsorship should only cover the registration and travelling expenses for attending the CME activity (Accommodation cost will not be covered). The sponsorship should not be considered or perceived as excessive or too extravagant with respect to the nature and purpose of the sponsored activity concerned.
  • The maximum sponsorship amount is:
    - $15,000 for conferences in the Asia Pacific region.
    - $28,000 for conferences in other overseas locations.
    The financial caps are subject to regular adjustments, aligning with the stipulations outlined in the Hospital Authority “Guideline on Central Training and Development Fund” and University regulations. The maximum annual sponsorship amount will be subject to the yearly financial status of HKSCCM, and the specific proportion of the net income in the previous year will be used as a reference when deciding on the amount.
  • Applicants must submit a completed application form (as attached). A handling charge of HKD 500will be applicable for successful sponsorship application
  • Applications will be assessed by the Executive board of CCMF (EB) which comprises at least the following members, namely, the Council chairman, secretary, treasurer, past chairmen, and two active members. The most appropriate candidate will be nominated as the recipient of the sponsorship. A scoring system will be used to assist the selection process. The EB’s decision is final.
  • A letter of nomination will be sent to the successful applicant
  • Successful applicants should seek approval from the Chief of Service of his/her department and the Hospital Authority (Hospital Services Department in case of Civil servant) for acceptance of sponsorship for attending the CME activity. 
  • After returning from the CME activities, the sponsorship recipient must provide evidence of attendance for reimbursement. This could be in the form of a certificate of attendance or other relevant documentation.
